Section 508: Accessibility Audits and Remediation for MS Power Apps

Perform accessibility audits, testing, and remediation fixes for various USDA custom apps and web pages to meet WCAG 2.0 criteria and Section 508 Compliance.

Project Goals

Analyze content, functionality, and user interfaces to ensure they are fully accessible to users with normal devices and those relying on assistive technologies, so that all can access, interact, and consume content (data & information) without physical or technical limitations.

Remediate and deliver public facing and internal web products that are Section 508 Compliant, as mandated by federal law.

Work Performed

Perform automated and manual accessibility tests on various USDA apps and web pages, using tools like ANDI, A11Y, WAVE, NVDA, as well physical interaction to test elements for focus, keyboard traps, tab order, screen readability, and more.

Identify and document any issues found that violate WCAG 2.0 criteria and are not Section 508 compliant.

Troubleshoot various types of accessibility conflicts such keyboard traps, focus & tab order, tab indexing, element labels, color contrast, etc.

Apply remediation fixes to MS Power Platform products (Canvas Apps & Model Driven Apps) to correct non-compliant markup (HTML output), including UI elements, form components, navigation (menus & buttons), etc.

Submit comprehensive audit reports and remediation checklists to management for final review and approval prior to product release.
